Greg lies second in the championship after the opening rounds...
The first two rounds of the Asian Formula Three championship took place in Batangas in the Philippines earlier today.
After the first two rounds, Greg is currently in second place in the Asian Formula Three Promotions championship following excellent third places in both the first and second round.
This is an excellent start for Greg, especially since it was his first competitive outing in a Formula Three car, on an unfamiliar circuit, in what could only be described as extreme weather condiditons with temperatures during the race reaching thirty nine degrees centigrade!
Greg arrives back in Dublin from the Phillippines on Tuesday morning and his preparations for the next round of the Asian championship in China on May 7 & 8 will begin immediately.
We'll be posting more news, an interview with Greg and photos from the opening rounds in the coming days.

“I’m thrilled with the result. To secure two podium finishes, and second place in the championship from my first competitive outing in Formula Three is fantastic. I’ve learned an awful lot this weekend, both in terms of driving these cars and also performing at the highest level in extreme heat. I’m really happy with how things have gone and I’m thrilled to be returning to Dublin with some silverware!”

Irish Independent: Young Dub joins Minardi
The Irish Independent carried a story on Greg signing for Minardi yesterday :
Greg is also making an appearance on the TV3 breakfast programme Ireland AM this morning.
A young man with ambitions to line up alongside Montoya some day is Greg Murphy, who has been snapped up by the Minardi Formula One team to drive for their junior team in the Asian Formula Three Championship.
Murphy, the first Irish driver to be signed to a formula One team since Eddie Irvine (1992), was signed by Minardi following a competitive international shoot-out held in the Philippines in March. Murphy will now represent Ireland and Team Minardi, for the first time at the Asian Formula 3 Championship which begins in the Philippines on Saturday week. "I have always had my sights set on Formula One so the opportunity to become part of the Minardi team is a huge achievement for me. It's a dream come true," said Murphy.
